Okay, I am going out of town for a month and my marineland c-220 just stopped working. I have a small wet dry hooked up that s running but that alone is not enough filtration for my mata mata turtle and the other fish in with him. I need a quick fix (something that I can do this weekend) that will not break the bank. I was thinking a 20 long FW refugium that I could add a heater to as well as some java moss and maybe some inverts. what do you guys think?

i would just get an ac110 its cheaper and does the job real nicely.. if thats too big.. do an ac50 or ac70..

I really dont want a hob filter, I have always hated the looks of them and I need somewhere to put a heater (cant be in the tank with the turtle).

put the darn heater in the sump!!! and just buy a ac110.. who cares if you don't like them its not like your even going to see it(YOUR ON VACATION, UNABLE TO SEE YOUR TANK). josh! do you want to fix this problem or not!

if you go and make a refugium, youll have to make an overflow, and return, youll also have to spend tons of money on something that wont do anything to your water!

the heater would not fit inside of the sump so I went and got a new pump and set up a temporary refugium with lots of ceramic rings and bio-balls as well as some mechanical filtration. I pulled all of the baby crayfish that I could find out of the big tank and put them in the refug. for now too. apart from the pump, it cost about $20 to get some pvc to make a U-tube to connect the sump and refug. and for the tank itself which i found for about $10. I also pulled the filter material out from the broken canister filter and used some other stuff that I had laying around.
