ive narrowed it down to the fluval e or the ehiem jager, just need to know if its a problem to go with extra wattage so that when i buy i bigger tank i don't need a bigger heater.

Just the pro models the all black ones. All others have a warranty.

I too have aqueon heaters. I was not aware of this warranty, I will check that out.

The pro model does not have a 300 Watt. 250 max. A 300 or 200 or what will all work in a 55 at a point you might need 2 heaters depending how large you get with a new extra large tank. I mean you can get a 1000watt or larger if you really want. Just get a 250-300 and you will be good for a while with heaters. I have placed 1000 in a 30 gallon tank before but just temporary. But best is to not get too large of a heater. I would save money and buy the Jager over that fluval E

Nothings wrong with Fluval. Its one of many lines of Hagen products, as well as Aqua Clear. Buy whatever you feel will best fit your needs of your aquarium and also what eases your mind. Some people are ok with buying cheaper product, while some people think its better to buy the higher end. But all product have the same possibilities of malfunctioning. If i had the money i would of went with a fluval, because i thought the heater guard on it was cool. But i saved myself some money and went with Marineland and jager.
