She's not a fan of the green stripey patterns! And almost all panaques are just black, brown, etc. Are there any neon-colored ones? Lol. Anything pretty that will need mostly just wood to eat. If you know of any panaques with what non-fish people would consider "attractive" markings, please let me know. And yes, I find them all beautiful. That's the problem.

I think the green ones are one of the best looking plecs about... But there is blue ones but they are quite dark an not to bright. Maybe give a diff pleco ago like a phantom or a nugget

Then I have to buy fish food.

Panaques do great on an all-wood diet, and the ones that don't can always eat cheap organic veggies. The only money I'm looking to spend on this is on the fish and filtration. We'll be heating the room with a rocket mass heater to keep the temp in the low 70's, going all budget on this. Gonna be about a 200 gallon tank, bigger if I can find a wider footprint like a corner or cylinder. Probably just one monster in there, maybe a few dithers...

That should get her approval. Panaque need more than just wood tho.....

Two leaders in the field, Shane from PLC and A Japanese Gentleman (whom I forgot his name right now - he runs catfish blues website) have both raised Panaques on wood only diets and reported no ill effects and healthy specimens. In fact, those fed on animal protein they said, will suffer from digestive issues and sudden deaths are reported within 5 years....

Also, no. That panaque is black and green. She likes neither AFAIK. Remember the part where I asked about bright colors? Let's go back to that.

Probably hopeless, then. I already scrolled through most of the pleco cat-e-log, too.

Question why do you need her approval? I don't mean to offend you just curious.
