I've kept Julichromis, Calvus, and Brichardi in a 28 gal tank together . They did well for about a year until I took that tank down.
My setup worked pretty good and there was limited aggression. I had 2 brichardi at one point but they didnt get along well so I took one out. Everyone else got along pretty good and the Julie's managed to spawn a few times however only 1 survived.
If you have lots of rock and coverage they should be ok. But you have to pay attention. if aggression is too much then you may need to make arrangments to move things around or take the troublemaker out.
(on the flip side I dont know how these would get along with shell dwellers)
