ok Guys well heres the end result. After finding ou that the aro was in a 72x18" footprint tank i decided to pick it up because my 72 x 30 is much better. upon the gf seeing the fish she fell in love and is pushing me to order the glass for the next tank.

i did as suggested and filled a 65g tank and put the aro in there for transport, it worked out really well. getting him out of the tank was very painless, i brought a trout cradel for fishing. (its very soft and does not harm the slime coat) we put that in with a piece of shrimp at one end and he swam right in. after a 2hr water drip in the 65g from water from his future home, i repeated the cradel process with the shrimp and it was just as painless.

as far as tankmates, all that is left in the big tank is the aro, gar and a clownknife. i relocated the oscar, 2 11" silvers and the fronts to other tanks and everything is working without a hitch so far. im going to snap some pics for you guys later and soon as the camera is charged.

having said all that the most shocking to me was that i got him in the tank at midnight last night and at 1 am he ate 2 shrimp and 1 silverside out MY HAND.

i do have one question still, most things ive read said to feed larges aro's once every other day, why is that? and how often do you guys feed?

I'm glad you decided to get him. :D :D shrimp is good. try and see if he will eat pellets(alot cheaper), krill, or frozen bloodworm cubes just vary his diet.

we want pics!
