Hello
I am looking at purchasing an 8x4x3 acrylic tank used. The problem is my
Doorway will not accept the tank due to only being 32". I was thinking if it is possible to cut down the tank to say 30" and then reinforce the top again with new braces and framing. Does anyone have any experience in something like this? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Mike

Take the door off the hinges, remove the hinges, and remove the molding from the frame....Don't hurt the tank!

+1 to all of that! Cut a hole in the wall, put in a ranch slider, take out a window, put it in the garage, anything but cutting down the tank!!

You'll have a hard time getting the stand in too unless you also only make it 30" high or build it inside, so widening the door isn't as silly as it sounds...

Yup take off the door, casing, and jamb to see whats going on. You may even be able to take a stud out. Call a carpenter over if you need to

I would deff make it happen somehow

My problem. Only I am in a damn apartment. Otherwise I would cut the house to make the tank go in. You can always build the house back to the way it was before.

Taking the door and door jam out is a piece of cake. Most door jams have a gap on both side where it is usually shimmed and screwed. Take it out and you may have the room you need without having to cut out your wall. 32" is pretty narrow for a door. I think all of ours are minimum 35"

Ill take out the door and knock down the wall before ever cutting a tank.
