I've been keeping discus close to 7yrs now. I'm about to become a dad for the first time, and I don't think I'll have enough time to take care of them. I don't want to give up the hobby so I want to switch to other chiclids. Less high maintenance chiclids. I'm leaning towards severum. I have a 60 g running a rena xp 3 and aquatop 3 stage filter. Could I keep a severum for life? Could I add other fish like geos?

I've had all 3 of those with my sevs. No problems. Severus were bigger though

I wouldn't add more than 2/3 severums,
Geos are really peaceful, you could add a handful of those.

You should probably stay away from any sort of terrors. 60gal is on the small side for aggressive fish like terrors. Severums can up to 10"-12", so eventually the 60 will only be comfortable enough for 1.
Can I give you some advice. Get a pair of small angelfish. Add a couple of loaches, perhaps a small school of diamond or lemon tetra and a porthole catfish.
