need advise for diy sump w/ diy overflow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you know what you discribed is probally the problem I am encountering, I will attempt to make sure overflows are free of air and will reply later this evening if it is working or not.

I used 1" fittings all the way though, so I know that it is not an issue, in my earlier post I stated that I did not run into problems until after I turned the sump pump off to change the water and somehow air must of leaked pass the oneway air valves on the top of the pair of overflows and possibly caused one of them to cease to function. Once I get off work I will make sure the air pocket is eliminated and restart the sump pump to see if this corrects this issue.

I have had similar problems with the o/f on my 75 when doing water changes. I also have a 1" o/f , but with a smaller return pump (approx 300 gph). I have found that if the horizontal pipe is not level it will trap air and restrict flow. The o/f pipe will only return to the sump what the pump sends it. If your o/f pipes are a little wobbly like mine are, it's easy to knock it off level and then air gets trapped and you know the rest. If I want to raise the water level in the tank I turn my inlet cap up and vice versa to lower. I hope this helps. Tom
