darters lack an air bladder, thus, sit on the bottom of the tank most of the time unless feeding, and never will be seen horizontal in the middle of the tank. just to add somethin to the post.

id say smallie for sure with the stripes, and the spot pattern on the body

I say SMB but its impossible to tell from those pictures, also as an avid SMB fisherman, not all SMB have red eyes!!

Native fish are common in feeder orders, they are raised in ponds outdoors and just scooped up when purchased.

It's a largemouth bass. Smallmouth bass have red eyes. The picture clearly shows that the fish has black eyes.

what if that bass used clear eyes to get the red out? hahahahahah jk

smbs dont always have red eyes... and the pattern is smb for sure

Being that it's in with a hippo tang (the big smiling fish on the left) and what appears to be some form of sponge, it must be a saltwater fish. Some kind of grouper perhaps
