Need an ID Please :)

Hey whats the story where are all those snakehead experts? Can someone please tell me why my fish has been identified as a maruloides yet it is clearly missing the spot /occelatus on the caudual peduncle that I see in maruloides?

Come on Monsterfishkeepers please can someone be specific with an ID? The maruloides in the other posters pics is clearly not the same fish. :(

mine has Pectoral fins, 46 dorsal spines, 35+ anal spines, No occelatus, no pattern. Golden line running parallel above the lateral line, White underside, blunt head . If it is a maruloidescan someone tell me why no spot on the caudual peduncle?
 
It's a channa melanoptera cuz it doesn't have the cardinal eye. If it got the cardinal eye, then it's a channa meriulioides. I used to have my channa meriulioides at 2.5" and it already got the cardinal eye.

Just wait and let the fish get more stable.
 
I love how you're asking for an ID but arguing what people are saying, if you know so well how do you not know what the fish is already and why are you asking?

To me looks like a young maruloides, but can't tell for another month or two, when it's grown on a bit.

I wasn't arguing mate just asking a question regarding the "eye" on the tail. I apologise if my posts came across as arguing, I did not intend to annoy anyone. Thanks for the reply :)
