need an ID... small little cute cichlids

cool, thanks for the sexing tip. what size aquarium do you think all four would be happy in, i think there are two pairs from looking at them, would a 55 be ok????

two pairs in a 55G wouldn't be too bad . . . my adult pair shares a 90G with a Texas/Convict pair, and while there is occasional flaring, there is no actual violence

c. dimerus is very likely; the pair of "blue ports" I have were sold as c. portalagrensis, but that names is often used as a catch-all for several very similar species, including c. dimerus and c. bimaculatum

Gorgeous C. dimerus. The Port Acaras, genus Cichlasoma, are favorite cichlids of mine. I used to have many of the described and some of the undescribed species, years ago. Currently I'm keeping Cichlasoma dimerus, C. portalegrensis and C. boliviense. You'll enjoy them.

One of the really interesting behaviors they display is their (sometimes) preference for moveable platforms to lay their eggs on. You can provide them with dried leaves, when they are ready to spawn. It's fun to watch them drag the leaf they've laid the eggs on across the tank to a more suitable and in their view, safer location.
