holy . never seen a filter that dirty. Use the stress zyme, a type of bacteria in a bottle that eats ammonia and nitrites in your tank. U cab get it in your LPS.

They are already using stability... same idea better product

I just shook it off and put them in.....Keeping my fingers crossed. Is it bad to do 2 water changes in one day? I did a water change around 3pm today 10% and my ammonia is still on the stressed side and Nitrite is still 2.0

I'd leave the cartridge in till you get a nitrate reading. If you re changing water and treating with prime, dose for the tank volume, not the replacement water volume. Should curb any spike. Stability should do the rest. Make sure to shake it before you use it.

The only problem I personally have with excessive water changes is they are a source of stress... something you'll want to minimize. Any stress for the fish is bad but you'll need to get the ammonia under control. I've successfully kept several species of loricariids in qt using nothing but 40% daily water changes. No filter at all. Wouldn't recommend it for the long term but it is doable. Follow the directions on the stability to the tee and you should be good in a few days.
