  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes that is correct

4 real wat did you do to ur cat? and can you do that to mine?
That cat has been shaved, My sister has one that has a smooth tongue (it was born that way) so it gets shaved at least once every spring because of matting fur.

The only sex of a betta that can change from one sex to the other is the female betta. If the female betta is kept in bad water condistions for along period of time in the early stages of her live { lets say 4 to 6 weeks} . Causing damage to her reproductive system. the female will change sex to a male. Even be able to fertlize eggs.
She will take on the finage sex organs and even father fry. But the male changing to female. HHHUUUMMMM I don't thank so tim! LOL

Very interesting  I have never heard of that.

This sounded a little rediculous to me but i a friend of mine was told by a fish store owner that if a male betta is kept in a small bowl with no filtration system it will produce it's own eggs. It didn't soundright to me but i figured i would ask.

you friend had been spooked by the shop owner:grinyes:

Thanks yea must peoplehavn't heard that. i had always found that to be a fun little fact about betta's. when I frist started breeding betta's I thought I'd better learn all I could before I even tryed. I found a book called Betta's by barrons. It tells of this. It even shows pictures of it. I found that for anybody wanting to start breeding betta's that this book should be the frist reading you do on them.
There is tons of info on the net. But none that goes in to the detell that the Barrons book of Betta's does.

Reading on this forum makes me want to get back into bettas again. They are good looking, easy to keep and very fun to watch. It's sad that people have so many misconceptions of them. Just yesterday I read of a guy that kept male and female seperate just because the guy at the petstore told them bettas have to be alone.

YES that's stupid IMO!!! if any of the store owners woud ever take the time to learn more about the spices they'd know that the fighten is bred into them not born in them. I house over 50m and 75f and have over 800+ crown tail, vail tail fry right now. PLus I have 25 to 30 mixed sex fry that's 6m old living in the same 20g tank.
Most people do not know or don't understand that fry that's born and live togeather do so in perfect peace. Now if you remove a male from this tank for more then 2 to 3hrs and add him back to the tank. Then all hell will brake lose on him or her once placed back in the tank. But yes they are a beautiful fish.

That is too funny. Pssst tell him if he uses red rocks in the bottom of his betta jars he will get all red Betta Babies too...running and hiding now....lol
