No Matt I nevered cultured them, just bought them at the store a few times.
I hope the OP reads the info we're posting and doesn't try and keep them in PA in an unheated tank. They will get sick and die in the low/mid seventies. I wouldn't keep them long term in anything less than 82 degrees 82 to 86 is about perfect for them.
