I know this is a late reply, but did you notice your co2 level change at all in the tank? I don't know what kind of system you are running, so maybe an irradic co2 dump...
Temp or ph shouldn't matter... maybe it would cause random die offs.. but not a mass amount like you got.. Co2 dump would be your likely culprit... Especially if they have been in the tank for the past 2 months...
