Hi I have a well stocked 55gal tank with a cascade canister that says up to 100gal on it. but even with a weekly water change im not happy with the water is there something I can add to help this?

whats ur stock?

how often do u do water changes and what % of tank water is removed?

what are ur water parameters?

persoanlly, i would add an AC110 to the tank, its great mechanical filtration, given the right media. plus its cheap and has a flow rate of 500GPH.. its rated for a 110 gallon tank.

keep in mind all companies give more credit, then what the filter should be credited for. ;)

Are you concerned with the clarity of the water, or overall water quality like ammonia and nitrites. If you are worried about clarity, just get an HOB filter, maybe an aquaclear 50 or penguin 200. If you need more bio-filtration, another canister would probably be your best bet,

ditto ditto ditto. I would dbl up on AC110 & rid yourself of the canister. the best performance for the value & ease of maintenance.

in my fluval canister, no one mentioned that one had to flush out your tubes of any crud that got stuck in there. it build up over time till when I cleaned it for the 4th time in 2mos. all of sudden crud backwash screwed up my clean tank. lucky I had one ac110 going at same time. but retired/sold off the fluval & bought another ac110 & it's been a breeze.

check out www.kensfish.com for great prices, selection & low shipping costs.
good luck.

I have a flagtail, endlchari, brycon, spotted p bass wolf fish, african pike and a couple silver dollars.
I do 50% water once a week
also I have no substrate
so should I scratch the sump idea?
thanks guys ill start looking into it

Yes, scratch the sump idea. Just use what the AC 110 comes with (Foam, ceramic rings and some carbon). When the carbon is done I personally wouldn't replace it but since it comes with it use it.
