OK, my 65 gallon is now ready to be restocked again. I had to completely redo the tank as it used to be planted and my Tinfoils as they grew, made short work of it. Now that the tank is planted again and the Tinfoils have found a larger home, I need suggestions as far as what to put into it. I would like 3-5 fish that may be all the same species, colorfull, start small (1" or so), grow slowly, grow large (10-15"), and are plant friendly. That is plant friendly. Plant friendly. lol The tank will be medium planted so there is plenty of room.

The tank is always on an upward climb so the tank will grow with the fish.

Do such fish exist? BTW, the water parameters are as follows: ph 7.0, 78 degrees, GH of 120 or so.

Thanks in advance

Not as big as you want but angels do well in a planted tank. Most cichlids will make short work of them. And did you find that magic tank in Tampa, if so tell me where. Got to get me one.;)

Please? Anyone else have suggestions? Do such fish exist? Balas would have been perfect but they aren't colorful. Is there anything colorful that has the same particulars as a bala? You know, start small, grow slow, don't eat plants, ect.

you could go with a red tail shark and some angels and some tetras that are large enough to not get eaten by the angels. be careful though, some tetras (buenos aires) are plant eaters, and make very short work of them in a large school.
also, some red-line torpedo characins(?)/fish would be great too. they school, but the cost around $40 each.

I have a red tailed shark (albino) full grown and he's a lousy 4". I love his personality and he is completely plant safe which is the reason he is one of only two fish I decided to keep. Not only that, he takes crap from no-one and was in with a school of 8" Tinfoils and did great. He's a keeper.

I need fish that are true monsters, just very young and slow growing as I need about another 12-15 months with this tank.

You are talking about torpedo barbs. These are cyprinids. Stick with scientific name which is more valid: Puntius denisonii.

Ctenoppoma's. but they only get to 6-8...
