in fact, I actually am getting that right now with my set-up. if you look at this diagram: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Undergravel_filter.png
I have the set-up to the left with the air pump and I am assuming you are referring to the one on the right...? Now that I think of it, I have the 2 anubias plants and the 6 amazon swordtail plants, which would make it more beneficial to have the canister to prevent the loss of CO2. Having this UG filter long term may prove detrimental to the health of my plants...

my bad, i read your post wrong...i missed the word "reverse" in your post...stupid me...:screwy:

there are deals out there...keep an eye out for them on CraigsList and the Buy & Sell here at MFK. In the mean time leave the UGF there in place.

...and I was in College back when the earth was still new, pass up on a couple of Jello shot "study" sessions or (*insert Party goods of choice) and get your fish what they need...;)

If it were me I would remove the undergravel filter all together. Mbuna love to dig which would end up making it pretty much useless. Canister filters are awesome I would save up for one if I were you and use it with the HOB.
