i went to re-do my tank substrate, i chose "play sand" from Lowes. I forgot to rinse the sand before i added it to water, which was my first mistake, so i took out all the water, rinsed the sand, then put water in the tank then added the sand.
The tank is still very foggy, is there anything else i can do, i had 3 filters on the 55, with over 200 gallons of filtration. i tried small water changes, big water changes and letting it sit. Right now there are 2 50 gal. filters on with 2 filters in each box. Right now RB is in a big rubbermaid with a heater, and filter so he should be ok for awhile. Has anyone had this problem, what can i do???

Ah, the joys of playsand....... keep stirring it up, doing water changes, and letting your mechanical filtration do it's thing. eventually it'll clear up

I would stir up the sand with water in the tank, then empty out as much water as you can. Then fill it up a quarter of the way and do it again. I would do that a few times until the water is a little clearer. Then fill the tank up, but put a plate or something similar on top of the sand and let the water flow slowly onto the plate so it doesn't disturb the sand. Then it should be much clearer.

it will go away

Add 1" filter floss to your filter, changing it as often as necessary, as it clogs up.

Filter floss is exactly what it sounds like- flossy material used as mechanical filtration in aquarium systems. Most pet stores should carry it- even my local Meijer has some.

i dont know why my filters arent picking it up, its still as cloudy as it was 2 hours ago, even after i added all new water and rinsed the sand

What do you have in the filters? If its just the mechanical filtration pad that comes with HOBs, the sand particles would slip right through.
