my venustus is battered up!!! its fins and body are really beat. i think my other chiclids beat the hell out of him.. need help asap!!!!!!! is there anything i can do to make my venustus survive? concerned people please reply ASAP

the best thing you could do would be to separate the beaten venustus into its own tank with some melafix. also, if your sig is right and those juvie cichlids are really in a 2 gallon then this won't be the last cichlid you have beaten up. even at such a small size those fish need more than a 2 gallon.

:)

im just waiting for march to put them in the 10 gallon extra tank that i have.. thats just a couple more days.. about my venustus i just put him now in a plastic bowl with oxygen now the fish is swimming upside down and it has blood on fins and body.. i put some rock salt in the plastic bowl. is there anything else i can do?

some how keeping him in plastic bowl doesnt seem like its going to help much. I notice blood fins on my fish when they dont have enough oxygen not sure if thats the reason but my angel fish had not filtration for a few days b/c the filter broke and it dveloped blood fins, when we put the filter back on when we got a new one the next day they went away. Anyways you really need that 10gal hospital tank. Another thing also is what I do for my fish is I hold them up so they dont flip upside down and thats along long long time you have to hold it, also I put it in a net and let the net sit in the tank underwater but balance it so that the top part stays at the water line so the fish cant get out, that usually keeps them from flipping. I also used a really big plastic box and filled it up with enough water for the fish to swim but not flip over and I put 3 bubblers in it so it def. has some oxygen going.

Last thing to do in my personal opinion is to switch water and evironment so quickly... As above especially to a plastic bowl.. The oxygen put off by just a tube isn't enough as compared to a air rock... But since you've already switched the fish do what you can not to add any more stress... See how close you can get to the water conditions and type in the tank your fish was in...
Wait and pray... I've had fish survive amazing amounts of time just in the same tank and separated from the rest by a feeder net cage or a plastic seperater from the lfs.... Most of mine that were as bad as you say yours is, came back to being healthy enough to hold their own between 1 and 2 months....
Have fun.... It's not very fun to wonder everyday for that long.....

What would be the point of waiting? It only takes 24 hours to be ready at the least. Get the pH to 8.3, the temp to 80 and some filtration. I would not wait until March. That's just silly. Make sure the tank has filtration and an air stone or bar. A wand will not produce as much oxygen as needed. Some is better than none, but the bars will do better. Add some of that stress relief to the 10 gal tank. Feed sparingly, the absolute last thing you need is an ammonia spike, he's under enough stress as it is. Make sure the filter has biological media as well as mechanical. If you add any medicine to the tank, don't run charcoal as it will just filter the medicine out. Good luck....hope all this advice helps and not overwhelms.

venustus died...

You should get the others into a larger tank ASAP!!!! If you dont, you will be starting another topic on the same thing .

yea il get a new tank as soon as i get money.
