if you put it in just a bowl of water it will die faster. I had 2 fish battered i put one in a bowl and the other in another cycled tank and the one in the bowl died after 2 days. i think cus there was no bactiera

salt does wonders for hurt fish.
"WOW", it works for humans too, not just salt though-- sea salt, "even epsom"-- trace amounts above the norm can do wonders.
