is it ok to use a lizard heat lamp to heat a tank for a week This pet store gave me a flowerhorn for a good price I put him in a 10 gallon only for a week he is like 3inch I would like to know also would this heat lamp heat the tank more than 82 degrees I had to get him wen I went couldnt resist this tank is only for a week tank is around 71 without heat lamp

You should have a tank prepared for the fish before you bring him in. Heat lamps are not an effective way of managing tank temperature if thats what youre asking. The constant high intensity light will also stress your flowerhorn. 71 is low and 10 gal is small but tolerable for 1 week i suppose. Just dont expect your fish to do well in this setup for any prolonged period.

If you intend to keep this fish, you should set up a tank at least 75 gallons dedicated solely to this fish. He will not cohabitate well with other fish once he matures.
 
Do you have a thermostat in the water?
 
You should never run a lamp without a stat so I'm assuming you have one, slide the probe just under the water below the bulb and set it to 24deg
 
If your house generally keeps above 72, I wouldn't bother with the heat lamp, just wait until you can get a proper aquarium heater.

Shouldn't the house temp be warmer, it is summertime. Thanks, I can now see the frame around the top for the screen. I guess my eyes are not good enough to see the screen itself...I'll try looking closer.
