i have a clown loach that isnt too too good. i just saw his right eye has something growing on it a white spot. what is this? is it cloudy eye? if so how can i save my loach? hes not very active atm just laying there half alive. how should i approach this?

180 gallons.

Tank Mates:
1 Arowana 7" 1 AT 7" Plat Senegal 6" 8 Clown Loaches 3-4" 2 Covict Chiclids 4" 2 Blood Parrots 5" 1 Orino 6" Royal Plec 6"

Water Temp 82.2 F

Fresh Water setup

Tank been set up for about 2 weeks fully cycled

My filtration is currently a build in overflow to my 20 gallon sump

water change was performed 2 days ago

i feed my fish hikari food sticks, bio gold, canivores and market shrimp 2 times a day

i have added half dose of salt for my tank

Pics?
What about ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
Any observed aggression towards the loach?
What is "half dose" of salt?

Separate the loach and treat separately. Please post pics first before you attempt treating for anything.

thanks lupin for replying. i did a 30% water change and add 18 tsp of salt. instead of a full dose 36 for a 180 gal. nitrite and ammonia is at 0 now nitrate is below 20. i also bumped up my heater a couple degrees. 0 aggression towards my loach.

heres the best picture out of my camera after countless attempts to get a good picture.

its like a white round ball growing on top of his eyes. i just spotted another loach having it too on both eyes not as bad tho

thanks again lupin

It's hard for me to figure out exactly what it is. Separate the ones affected and do water changes from there. You'll save money on salt dosage better in small tanks and it is far easier there to treat the actual issue. Just clean water and salt is all it is needed. Stick to a teaspoon per gallon dose. Add another set (same dose) after 12 hours. Remember to dissolve salt first before adding.

How often do you change water normally?

ill do just that. same dose as in what i was doing (half dose)? or the concept teaspoons per gallon? i normally do water changes at least once a week (30%) but when i have time i do it twice a week.

Does the other one have it in the same spot? Are there any other spots on him? May be ich..

yeah the other one have it right on both eyes. just not as big as the first one i spotted. on both eyes he has a small dot on it like its begining to grow. thanks for your concern and trying to help my loaches out...

oh my gosh wow your beautiful you prob. get that alot. :)

Go for one teaspoon per gallon. Add another set in the next 12 hours. Some people don't specify how salt must be added. That and the fact salt is sometimes not dissolved, can kill your bottom dwellers particularly plecos, loaches and catfishes. I've never lost anything doing this route. You have to make sure this is added GRADUALLY.
