No bigger tank wont fix it. The attacks will continue, one will literally search out and destroy the other. Bigger tank might provide more hiding space and delay the inevitable, but eventually they will cross paths and the dominate fish will finish the other off.
Keep the one you like and let it live solo you'll see the best colors that way! Or start over with small young ones and let a pair form, but even then be prepared even breeding pairs can tear each other apart!
I agree with the above comments, Pet shop behavior can't be trusted, the combination of stresses, shock, and over crowding cause most fish to seem docile. But its not normal behavior, as soon as they are given a proper home their true nature starts to show. Simply put in the shop they are too weak, stressed and afraid to worry about each other.
