TSN = pseudoplatystoma fasciatum ?
Never more than 24-30 inches?

If true, i would go for it...
I thought pseudoplatystoma fasciatum became as big as RTC...

Could you confirm latin scientific name of TSN ?

TSN = Pseudoplatystoma. Period. It's a genus. There are multiple species in the genus. 99.99% of what's available in the ornamental fish trade and labeled "TSN" is a gene-pool-waste fasciatum... or an indecipherable hybrid of various TSN species, some think, like wednesday13 wednesday13 .

In captivity, the biggest RTCs usually max out at 3.5'-4'. The biggest refuse TSN usually max out at 2'-2.5'. There are exceptions on each side, smaller and bigger, but my impression is that these numbers are pretty representative.

You could read this and similar threads for more info: https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/...f-tsn-runts-dinks-and-co.673687/#post-7569805

Only one I can think of is dazz's
Right but it wasn't sold as an unknown species or a cheap refuse $15 TSN the whole world has been enjoying for the last 10+ years. We believe his to be a corruscans, which is the largest TSN species and which is not known (to me) to be farmed, hence, must be wild caught.

Corruscans is used in hybridizing at SA fish farms though too but we seem unsure in what fashion and whether we get these hybrids in the ornamental fish trade.

Ik I was just saying his is the only tsn I can think of that is an exception off of the top of my head

Again, right :) You don't need to explain that to me as you and I and some others are on the same page with this.

The OP is likely not, as well as many others who read or will be reading this thread. So you quoting my post and saying something that superficially contradicts it (while it doesn't) or hints that dazz's TSN is an exception (while it is not) cannot be properly digested by an out-of-the-loop reader.

I wish you explained your otherwise curt and potentially misleading post, so I didn't have to :) But you correct some of my posts too, for what I thank you.. so there... You are welcome. :D

achara catfish

That'd be a nice choice if it wasn't for them long barbels and their 3x-4x body length span. When both barbels touch front and back tank panels, the fish feels trapped and stressed.

Hey,

Thank you for advice... TSN ordered today.
I found one of 5-6 inches for 40 euros (average 35USD).

Scientific name given by the shop : pseudoplatystoma fasciatum.
Confirmed : not an hybrid.
Confirmed : not a wild specimen. Coming from a farm in Germany.

I should receive it in about 2 weeks.

As soon as I receive it, I will post some pic's.

I hope you were all true about the maximum size (no more dans 25 inches)... other my tank will become to small for it if growth up more than 30 inches...

I will let you know and post pics when he arrive in his new home...

should expect 30" at the least, smaller may be more of an exception as well as larger then 3'. TBTB likes 2x length of fish for width, I go by the species. Id suggest atlas a 3' wide tank for the average tsn we get over here in the US
