So yesterday i bought a pair of firemouth x convict. The male is bout 8 in and female bout 7 in. And 2 months ago a pair of gt's. At the lfs they r always together and when i bring em home the males start harassing the females. And they r bonded pairs. Im really annoyed cuz of this. Every time i bring any pair home the male ends up harassing the female. Can anyone tell me what can i do to stop the male from harassing the females and also they stop eating, i give em hikari gold (red and green). And what can i do to bring em to breeding mode, instead of fighting mode. The tank is 75 gallon, i do water changes weekly around 40%. Plz help me out
thanks

some times if my pairs act up i will split them up for a week or 2 and then reintroduce them, they usually mate shortly after.

Like split em up with a divider or move 1 of em to a different tank?
and thanks for the reply

i have done both, but it seems to work best for me if i put move it to another tank completly

I have em in a 75 gallon with pair of gt's 4 in and a pair of convicts ( 1 and 3 inches). I have a 20 gallon free it's running got a keyhole in there, so should i move the male or female to the 20 gallon? and my temp is on 28 C so should i drop it to like 24 and raise it again once i put em together? and how long should i separate em for? thanks

i think you will have problems with that many pairs in a 75. each pair probably needs a 75 to themselves. i have my pair of geo red humps in a 40 g breeder alone, an my nicarguense pair in a 75 alone.

They r only 1-4 inches right now ill seperate em once the males hit 6 in. I wanna keep the firemouthxconvict pair in this 75. and can u answer the rest question from before. thanks

separate them for a week or 2. you can pull either one the male or the female. i usually move my female just because it is easier to find tank space for her than my male.
