Hmm, I think generally flowerhorns should be kept by themselves, but that is just what I have read. Catfish might live, and the convict idea could work, if you have solidly-constructed rockwork that the flowerhorn cannot get into, as mentioned. You could perhaps try to pair up the flowerhorn, that might be interesting.

I am new here, but I am unsure what a zzp is, so I don't know what that might mean for your future plans.
 
i think i will try a pair of cons my lfs has a pair in a 300 gallon tank with devils jags and black belts the male is huge a almost 7 inches w/a huge hump he is black and the female is pink shes about 3 inches they said i could pay and they will keep them there till i get the 125
 
i cant mix anyother cichlids with my FH. the only thing that could be with my FH without getting its butt kicked was my JD and he just kept putting my FH in the corner of the tank so i had to take him out. other then that they all get mauled.
