Now I think I'm gonna get rid of my africans n go get another one lol..but how can u tell if its male or female? Its hard me to tell with south america n central chiclids

Venting is a sure fire way but the fish have to be an appropriate size.

Here's a male, much different then the female

males profile is steeper, the dorsal fin lacks the solid color, and with mine, he was about twice her size

Yours may be a male looking back at the profile, it is still small(young) I think, at first I saw the solid color blotch in the dorsal, but time will tell.
