We recently received a cichlid that we cannot identify. Can anyone weigh in on this? The back one is a fire mouth cichlid. What about the other with the white face?

Thank you. We were sure hoping for a slightly smaller option than the Texas. We may eventually need a tank upgrade.

Agree with Gourami, definitely a texas and the other cichlid is no firemouth. Can we see another pic of this fish. It kind of looks like multispinosa but the finage looks more thorichthys like.

Quite a story to this fish. We are nursing it back from the brink of death as it had jumped from a store cage and was dying. The fins are orange tipped. Another fish nipped its fins but it seems to be healing well all the way around. It and the white face are close companions and have teamed up against the hostile jewel fish and put it back in its place.

Actually it looks more like a multispinosum. The rainbow looks male and the texas female. I would prepare yourself for eggs soon.

Shape of the head and fins, say thoricthys to me, but coloration is multispinosum. Pearling almost looks flowerhorn like, who knows what's in the mix. And yeah that texas is ready to drop eggs if it hasn't already. I would be careful, the breeding pair will likely get much more aggressive
