I think
Deadeye and the others pretty much nailed it. I'm not into S/B FH but that's a good looking fish you have there. Keep us updated with pics it would be interesting to see how his colours develop.
Was there ever a debate on trimacs being amphilophus? I mean I can see it but I thought there was something backing their taxonomy. I remember the one guy saying they should be trichromis but that got shot down awhile ago.

I may be thinking of a different fish then. Though a lot of databases have them as Cichlasoma, which is pretty much a mixed bag if unclassified cichlids. I could believe amph, definitely the closest.

Oh yeah then in that case they're amphilophus, cichlasoma was broken a long time ago, the species in it I can think of were some acaras, spinossissima, centrarchus, pearsei, bocourti, and I guess trimacs. Trimacs obviously got put in amphilophus, iirc centrarchus were moved to archocentrus with spinossissima and convicts before amatitlania became a thing but ended up remaining the only true archocentrus species, spinossissima got moved to rocio, the acaras stayed as cichlasoma, and then bocourti and pearsi got moved to cincelichthys.
