Thanks Ron! My fishes do look like the ones you just posted. Did you ever get a definite answer to which fish it is?
You're welcome! my pleasure! I have not narrowed them down as of yet. I have scanned the web and this site and the best I can come up with is either Geo Abalios or I'm leaning towards Altifrons. The funny thing is the LFS I bought these from had them labled as Jurupari. They argued wth me that they were indeed Jurupari so I just laughed. BTW...you have a fish I cannot get on the west coast...it's your steiny...I'm enveaous!!!

Ron - yours look like G. altifrons. G abalios should have a stripy pattern on the caudal fin.

i'd agree that the second one you have there is a G. steindachneri

the mystery fish looks like whats sold here in australia as red horseface (labelled as Geophagus Surinamensis) but going by Jeff Rapps photos i'd say either G. pindare or G. altifrons

but i'm certainly no expert

Now I see it. Thanks! This is why I'm here...to learn! Altifrons it is. I understand these get pretty big....here comes another tank.lol!
