Need help id'ing a cichlid.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thats a badly neglected nicaraguensis! if you have a quarantine tank feed him up abit in there a while as he might get picked on by bigger cichlids for his obviously weak image

Wanted to post an update. The little guy is putting on some weight, I think he is going to be fine. He is a lot more aggressive than I expected after doing some research (after you all told me what he was). Today I caught him in a lip lock with a cutteri and he has run the neet out of his home. Right now he is actually the most aggressive fish in the tank. Hard to believe considering his tank mates.

That is a surprise to hear.. To my understanding, most Nics are fairly passive. Guess its one of those angry, ill tempered ones.. LOL

I wanted to give an update of the little jerk. He really has no idea of his "place" in the tank. Have to admire him for his spunk.

Anyway, here are a couple of poor quality pictures. What do you think? Does he look a little better than when I first got him?

Here is the tank he raises hell in.

OMG! Night and day difference with his health and how he looks! Excellent job on him!!!

Now you just gotta feed him some prozac to calm his a_s down! LOL

Good looking Nic, how big is he now? Compared to then?

He might be about an inch longer if that, he has mainly put on mass. He looks much healthier now and he eats like a pig. He is probably around 5" - 6" tl.

By the way, I have no idea if it is a male or female.
