I checked planetcatfish.com for similar species and can't seem to figure this one out, maybe I missed something? Looking to find out what species, common names, care, price, rare or not, legal or illegal. I'm thinking about buying it. Any help is much appreciated.

hybrid perhaps? I'll do some checking myself. Doubt it's illegal. I'd say pick it up. Definitely some type of synodontis. Euptera hybrid perhaps?

i think you are right and thank you....i was told it was possibly the same thing with lateral line erosion....now i'm trying to find out if thats a good thing or bad

that's interesting....the only incident that was indicated to me was that a large aro tried to eat him but he claims that it was that color when he got him a year ago.

That's interesting to know. I've only kept one syno so never had this problem.

further research shows it might be due to poor water quality.....i'm definitely going to give him a better home now. the seller is a good friend of my cousin, and my cousin indicated to me that the water quality is indeed poor. they both have arowanas that were siblings and my cousin's aro is double the size of the seller's. more than likely difference in water quality. thank you everyone for your leads!!!
