I just bought a large firemouth from the petstore. it was somewhat of an instict buy cause ive been wanting one. i brought him home to an empty 35 gallon cause i was planning on getting a 55 soon tho hes just resting on the gravel bottom and it looks sometimes as tho he rocks a little forwards and backwards. His fins are pretty torn up he was in about 3 days ago in with two oscars and a pike at the petstore. i have a little medicine called maracide not sure theres much and the petstore is closed and about 45 minutes from me. first time ive had a firemouth and im worried. i was searching the forum and after reading a topic i just switched him to a 10 gallon with some baby guppies in it and put in a large airstone. someone please help. i have taken a picture if it helps.

clean clean clean water, regular water changes,,,he sould bounce back,,could try the liquid but forgot its name, smells of methol, keep him away from others till hes better, had fish in worse cond than that from lfs and they survived

also give him some coverage/plastic plants and make some caves so he will fell more at home,,

should i put him back in the 35 or leave him in the 10 with the guppies? i dont have anywhere near enough medicine to treat the 35. and hes not eating any guppies.

i have only the filter that came with the ten gallon there is a 350 gph filter in the empty 35. i dont want to stress him with another move atm. if i go back to the petstore tomorrow what should i look into for meds to make him better it makes me feel bad to see him looking so lifeless. he wont swim around the tank and i dont believe he'll eat anything.

He's very stressed, put him in the 35g by himself and give him lots of hiding spots. Also I would do weekly 25% water changes. Don't add any meds at this time, except maybe some stresscoat.
