i just bought 2 orino p bass. they measure atleast 2 inches.

i left the bag in the water, so it can get use to the temp. the temp is set at 84 for my LMB's. i released the bass in the water, and i went off to my friends house since he bought 4 of the pbass from the same seller but a little bit bigger. we went to grab some fast food, and when i got home to give him some filter supplies, i notice one of my pbass was dead, because my 3 year old nephew pointed out to me that there was one dead. now the second one is chilling near the filter and the heater. with his tail up and head down.

my tank been running for 4 weeks now, it had 3 largemouth bass at 3 inches in length, now i only have 2 since i gave one away to my friend. my ammonia is safe my nitrite is at .5ppm my nitrate is safe. my tank is a 12 gallon eclipse tank with the filtration system. its just temporary until i can cycle my 40 gallon tank

anybody have any clues on why it died?

will post pictures of hows it chilling and the dead fish. when i upload it

Your tank is still cycling. This is indicated by the fact that you have nitrites present in your tank. P Bass are very sensitive to water conditions. The cycling is most likely your cause.

Just for reference, P Bass can reach a length of up to 3 feet very quickly. The 40 gallon tank will only last for a few months. I owned my P Bass for two to three months and he was close to 6".

I agree. The Nitrites could have done it. The fish was already stressed from shipping also. Of course one of your LMB could have killed it. I'd dose the tank with Prime if you don't have a mature filter you can add to it. 2" pbass to better in 86-88* water also.

Did you acclimatize the Bass with water from your tank before you released them ?
Or did you just float them in the bag to get them use to the Temp ?
I agree with the above it may have been the nitrite level if its @ .5 then your tank is not fully cycled your ammonia and nitrite should be @ 0 for young bass to have half a chance of living through the stress of a move and your PH should be around the 7.0 mark and temp 86-88

what these guys are trying to tell you is the bacteria in your tank has not colonized yet to keep your water nuetral, go by a bottle of bacteria and add it to the tank. It takes about a week or so to colonize but your can add fish instantly, its around 9.99
Where did you get the fish from?

Pharaoh - Thanks. The 12 gallon is just temporary. I just got my 40gal Cycling for 3 Weeks now. Just waiting for it to be done and ill be transferring the fish over.

Danh - Putting the heater at 86-88, would that be safe for my LMB also. The LMB actually likes the Pbass, they were swimming together in like a school.

monolicious - I did what my friend told me add a cup of water to the bag every half hour for a few hours. I will go buy Prime at the LFS as stated in a previous post.

jimmie1974 - I got the pbass from a member on here that was local to me. Will it be safe to keep the fish in the tank while adding the bacteria starter?

yes, you need bacteria in there ASAP, the filtering process for weeks doesnt do it alone, the bacteria is what converts all those things in your water to beneficial needs to the fish. Just ask your LFS for a bottle of bacteria they'll point you in the right direction.
