helo there! I am a fairly new member with a big problem! one of my koi is not doing so well- he has one cloudy or "dead" looking eye and doesn't move unless he is prodded by one of the other fish, but even then not very far or very fast. This is very confusing to me because i checked the pH and ammonia levels- both are about perfect! He hasn't been doing well since i moved the pond inside my garage into a 100 gallon tank from the 300 gallon pond that tends to freeze solid in Northern Illinois winters! Any incite and advice would be greatly appreciated!

About perfect? So ammonia is zero? Hmm. Is that five adult koi in a 100g tank? Are you feeding them or letting them chill?

what are your nitrate levels?

I'm not feeding them because the water temp is under 60 degrees. and I dont know how to check nitrate and nitrite levels- i can never find a kit for it at the local fish supply store.

try adding salt. usually works for all fish that show signs of cloudy eye

What does "About perfect" mean??? Ammonia needs to be zero. And if these are adult koi, a 100 gallon tank is way to small for them. I would advise finding a nitrate test kit, and I would perform a 50% water change and bump the temp a few degrees and add a little bit, stressing little, of aquarium salt. Let us know those details, and we can help more.
After we get through those, we can get into more advanced questions/details.
Good luck, and best regards :)

Ammonia is 0. pH is a little on the alkaline side, but is in reasonable levels. do you think i could find a nitrate test kit at a petco store? (they don't sell them at the local fish store where i get most of my supplies)

yeah they should have it there. how big are these fish anyways?
