NEED HELP- KOI NoT DOING SO GOOD!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The pond is only about 2.3 feet deep, and where i live we get a deep freeze 4-5 feet down into the ground, so i have to bring them in so they don't freeze into a solid block of ice! I have been moving the fish into my garage during the last 4 winters and have never had a problem with the fish ever before. when i move them, i make sure the temp of the tank and the pond are the same, and i use a combination of 1/2 pond water and 1/2 new water. i do try to keep the stress to a minimum, but i guess the stress this time was a bit much for the fish in question- he is one of my older fish. I started some medication i got from petco- the kind they use with their tanks, hopefully it will help! thanks for all the advise!

Good luck with your fish! Sounds like youve been doing things right. maybe since your fish have grown the increased bio load was a factor. who knows. sometimes, as with people, fish just get sick.

I am on day 4 of medicating my entire tank, but i am seeing no changes in the fish in question, and i have another fish exhibiting unusual behavior. both of the fish spend their days laying on their side on the bottom of the tank. the water is still testing fine. the second fish does not have a cloudy eye as the first one does. could this be a sign of old fish? i do not know how old the fish are, they came with the house 4 years ago, and both are the last surviving originals.(the others were victims of a stray cat) Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

hey there again! i am on day 6 out of 7 of medicating the entire tank, which means (according to the directions on the bottle) that i will do a water change on tuesday. The fish that i started this thread concerned about is, i believe, getting better? his eye has gone from cloudy to now having an orange hue that matches some of its scales. i believe this means he had outside damage to his eye, and now skin is growing over it. Although he still doesn't move and stays on the bottom of the tank in a bent position. i thank all of you who gave me advice, and hopefully the fish will continue to improve :)
