Need Help! Mom is going to end fish hobby!

I need to get my 55 gallon and 30 gallon out of my house by next thursday because my mom supposedly thinks that because this hobby i spend too much time on it and that im doing bad in school because of it. ( Which I think is ridiculous) Well, report card came, I failed alot of classes and she wants the tank out!!! Insane really.

So, in my 55 tank I have 2 dempseys, 2 datnoids, and 1 synodontis
and in my 30 gallon there is my brothers turtle. ( which i dont really care about)

I want to keep my biggest dempsey and my two datnoids but I dont know what to do!

My friend cant hold them because he is already overstocked with an arowana, 2 dempseys and a synodontis.

There is rayman45 but he switched to saltwater and I doubt he can hold anything.

PLease help me!! I want to keep my dempsey and my 2 datnoids. dempsey is 3 inches and 2 datnoids are a bit over 1 inch

I would rather keep all of them but my first fish, my dempsey and the 2 datnoids are what I really really want to keep.

how about taking to mom:

1) show her your completed homework every night
2) show her your tests and how you are doing better
3) go to school everyday.no complaints

in exchange ask for a 90 day extension

A majority of hobby's (with the exception of drugs) although time consuming, expand the mind, just like music. By exercising your skills, you are sharpening other knowledge. ....does she have a job? I realized a while ago that my mom complained so much because she had absolutely nothing better to do. So she eventually got a job and drank less, and became more practical. Tell your mom to get her own hobby...

As for failing classes...I wouldn't blame that on your hobby at all. Do you represent yourself poorly to your teachers? teacher can give you a bad grade, even if you do well on test, quiz's, and classwork. I know its pathetic but you have to be a suck up and stay after every now and then and your teachers will believe you have respect for your schoolwork, and that alone can improve your grade drastically.

good luck, keep the grades up. Nothing is worse for school than a stressful home life.

Go mom. Grades are too important not to take drastic measure to get your attention. If my kids we're failing, than I'd start taking away priviledges too.

If you're smart enough to take care of your fish, than you're smart enough to pass your classes.

Haha. These comments make me laugh.
Actually, Im a good student. I do well in classes and all but Im just failing tests. I never miss any homeworks, never cut, and always get to school on time. (I sound like a real nerd now)

I used to get a 90 on my report card but i dropped to 82!!!

Another thing my mom complains about.. WATER!!! she blames me for the tank water changes.. I do once a week! 10 gallons...
Its not like i can change that unless i just dont do water changes at all.

Back in highschool, I didnt understand why my girlfriend was getting 95%+ in all her classes while I was getting 75%-85%. (we had 3 out of 4 classes together coincidentally.) She thought the ocean was salty because of Whale sperm... yep... She didnt catch on to anything we were learning, she did poorly on tests, I tried helping her but it was no use... WHY WAS SHE GETTING BETTER GRADES? ...she stayed after twice every week. Stayed in the class instead of going to lunch and worked on her quiz. The teacher saw she was struggling and put that into consideration...

another option is (how I achieved a 98% in Trig) get a 7.2 Megapixel camera and while everyone is leaving for lunch, find a matching version of the test (be careful! Test A may not always be the same as your Test A!) and take a picture of the good students paper... The high resolution will allow you to zoom in very sharply and its more exciting than actually learning the subject!

I agree with this.Your parents house their rules if you can take care of fish you can pass your classes.privileges need to go some sometimes.

We have a good point here . Now the time to explain having a Pets is a huge responsibility whether it’s a fish or a pit bull. You have taken a step by joining a forum such as this and I take it want to keep your fish. Like fish keeping, school and life has its ups and downs. Explain to your mum give me the 90 days and then it is down to one person YOU! Less time on computer more time school work its time to prove to your mum and your self and your fish. You can do it. how old are u?
If thats u in the picture it looks like its about time for u to start taking control of ur parents. parents r very easy to manipulate. U just gotta show them why it is benefitial to them for u to keep ur tanks...

for example u could tell them that u r just lazy, and that if u end the aquarium hobby you will just find another way to procrastinate such as laying around watching tv, in which case ull b in their way all the time. Then tell them that the aquarium hobby is teaching u so much responsibility and that its really helping u understand ur biology classes

especially if u plan to study marine biology like i do, keeping aquariums is a great hobby to learn about that stuff...

if ur parents r not reasonable... well then just dont be reasonable back... thats when threats come in.

u tell them to go screw themselves, and then tell them that if they take ur tanks away u will make their life a living hell. just boycot school work... n be super irritating until they agree to let u keep the tanks...

they are only human, every human is manipulatable.
