NEED HELP: MOVING A BIG 10-12FT LONG AQURIUM TANK WITH CABINETS STAND.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also, have you seen water in this tank yet? In this case you should def "look a gift horse in the mouth." Before you spend money and energy trying to move it make 100% sure it's in good shape. (You probably have thought of this, but I might be too excited if I were you.)

I would hire a piano mover. you don't have to worry about it, and they have the proper equipment and insurance.

Good Luck:popcorn:

10-12ft sounds like a very vague description!
How about you get some demensions, try running a tape meassure over the tank so you have a better idea of what you have to move. What glass thickness is the tank?
All these detail matter and make a difference, good luck though.

I moved my Acrylic 450 with one other guy. Of course it's not as heavy and I had easy access to all sides. We spun the tank on the stand and both of us grabbed one side and gently lowered it down on to moving wheels while the other side was still on the stand. We just slowly pulled the tank off the stand until the end of the tank we had was heavier than the end on the stand, the tank slowly tipped down onto the rollers. Once the end was on the rollers we pulled it away from the stand, rolled it, until about one foot was still on the stand. We picked up that end and set it on rollers.
Rolled it to the truck, both of us lifted one end on the tail gate. I had carpet in the truck bed. Once one end was on the tail gate we lifted the other end and slid the tank into the truck. If I did it over again I would get the suction cup handles made for moving glass.
If you dead lift it you need more people but if you just lift one end at a time and use some wheels you can make it happen.
