Possibly lost my white spotted sharpnose puffer and a possible 3 other puffers in this mess. IDK what happend the only thing i can think of is the micron filter i have was not rinsed well enough after being in bleach water for cleaning....my PH was SUPER LOW, Like reddish / light reddish in color, not even on my chart! Fish are looking terrible right now. I added PH buffer and im heating some reef water i had on hand to ready it for a water change but what else can i do here???? All other level are normal but my PH is dropped off the charts, after testing now its at what looks like 8.3/8.4 but i dont think that the buffer has totally set in....IDK...PLEASE HELP ME KEEP MY FISH!

what other type of puffers? what are your other parameters? thats around where my ph is and my puffers are absolutely fine in my marine tank. how high is your targeted ph if 8.3 is low??

Well my buddy Einstein is gone, didnt make it through the night =( im heart broked =/

I have a GSP, Porc, and dogface that are struggling...the ph was insanely low those reading werewhen the buffer was still cycling...

SG 1.016
nitrates 0
nitrites 0
amonia 0
ph wasnt even on my chart... its now looking like 8.3 but idk..

idk whats going on but im gunna do a 80% water change with some established reef water and pray to god it works, im about to give up completely if this turns out ugly.

dont give up everyone has failures and/or hard times throughout their fish keeping. do you already have an establised reef with good water parameters you can pull water from? also what size tank is it? is the water cloudy at all? how long has the tank been up and running? by far im not the most knowledgable person to talk to about salt water as i have just set up my first marine set up like 6 or 7 months ago, but i know some or most of the basics so i will try to help as much as i can. from what you see no one picks on one another right? live sand/live rock in the tank?

6 or 7 months with 2 GSP, 2 F8, some assorted damsels, clownfish(added like two or three weeks ago), emerald crabs, scooter blenny, all in fully marine with no casualties. i dont have the most efficient setup just yet with HOB filters and skimmer on a 75.

its 60gal established for about 8 months, water is slightly cloudy. 30lbs live rock, 10 lbs livesand. I brought in a sample this morning to see whats going on and he says that my ph is fine everything is fine with the water...he believes the tank had a temperature spike....it sits at about 78-80 and that could have caused it...also my alkalinity was about 20 and its sposed to be at 11...he said from what he could see the PH never dropped and it was just giving me false readings...at this point all i can do is basically drop my temp a few degrees and watch....the porc and dog are swimming around now but my gsp is at the bottom with a black belly breathin real hard...and thats my favorite fish =/ FML

Any time you bleach something, you must soak overnight in dechlor after rinising well.

temp should be fine. thats just about where mine is at. raise your salinity! i just noticed your post that your salinity is only at 1.016. fully salt is considered 1.020 keep it below 1.030 though. raise that up, i would get your own test kits for ammonia, high range ph, nitrite and nitrate if you dont already have any of these. i only have those and plan on getting a copper test and any others i could possibly get. what type of filtration do you have on your tank? protein skimmer? if you have good filtration and your BB can handle the bioload i dont see why you are having issues. have you changed your filter media recently and completely replaced it? could be kind of a mini cycle. the only thing i would do right now is raise the salinity up to fully marine as you are at a mid to high brackish currently. i havent tested my alkalinity because i dont have one of those test kits yet so i cant compare what yours is to mine.

Very possible but I also agree with getting the SG up to SW--right now it is at BW levels. Do large WC for now but don't raise the SG more than .002/week.
