does anyone out there have any information concerning a Reticulated Stingray (teacup). I might have a problem, might not and want to find out.

this afternoon, I noticed on the left back outer edge of my stingray, there is a half dime size red spot on him. can see from top and bottom. looks like blood in the skin. no open bleeding. he isnt as active as usual, but he usually is more active at night though. seems to be eating some, swims good but is just sitting around and seems to want to curl up alot. he is just letting his body float around over the bubbles comming out of the airstone. not sure if its his way or helping with any pain he might be in or is dying.. he seems to want to curl up alot. but still moves from time to time around the tank.
any ideas how this may have happened or what might be wrong.

has some tank mates.. two guppies, three shark fish, two small suckers one large, two sword fish, 2 rainbow tetras, 2 gourami and 2 dwarf gourami..
all have been in tank for over 6 months, get along and never have had any problems with any of the fish messing with the stingray...

I could use some ideas

My first thought would be one of the suckers their mouth would leave a red ring or spot on him

But maybe someone else has a different idea

could be. I thought of that also. the bigger one has been comming out more.
only thing is, he seems to be really inactive today. and well now seems to be mot breathing as much. weird.....

This thread is frustrating to me. I am clueless and wish I knew something in order to help you.

he is just sitting there, and his disk all around is up. breathing slowly.
added antibiotics like I was told to do by my local well known aquarium guy, and since then, he is not as active and breathing slower.

It is possible that if the pleco is sucking on him it could stress him enough to change his behavior

This is what you should do
Test your ammonia, Ph, nitrites, and nitrates and report back with the results
If you know what your PH is usually at post that as well
Also post what filtration you are running

Also it would help to know what medicine you put in the tank as rays are very sensitive to some of them

gel-tek neomycin 5 drops

nitrate 10
ammonia 0
nitrites 0
ph 6.9
temp 78
i have 3 filters running on his tank
all Aqua-tech filter. changed the filters out 4 days ago
all levels in tank good. I really stay on top of them.
esp his.
have other rays in other tanks.
all doing fine....
just he is acting funny today.
could be stress due to injury...

he is in sand.
tank has been set up for over a year
he is 6 months old in this tank

never had one do this... ive had rays for 3 yrs...
he is the first to curl, slow breathing and just sit...

well I would say, thanks for the info but I dont think its going to matter.
He is just not breathing much.
you turn him over, he just stays that way.
no gills moving but heart still pumping..
so how knows.
guess I just will have my first death on my hands...

we will see
