I would like to give a great thanks to Miles. I think he might of just identified my knife without knowing it. I look looking at a thread in pics for the east/west coast zooligical thing and found this post by miles: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8481&page=6&pp=10
It is the first pic on post 53. an exact mach to my knife. now, I just need to know what it is.

I think it is difficult to say only looking by the internet! You are looking to the fish everyday, so you may say the exactly color!! Gymnotus has a lot of species with different color patterns!!
any way, it is a nice fish!!

probably in the USA it is very difficult to get one!! Here in Brazil it is very common, it is sold as life bait to fishery at about 1 dollar, and in aquarium store at about 5 dollars!
I use to keep them together and with a black gost knife also, without problems!!
