Pollution (again) - PCB's, once a popular additive to paints, glues, heat resistant materials (IE transformers, wiring etc) and floor sealants has proven to be a persistent pollutant. In mammals and birds it is known to cause immune system issues, varous cancers, reproductive harm and thyroid problems. It is a lipid binding chemical, stored in fat tissue of organisms and is known to be passed on in mammals to their young via breast milk, further harming future generations. It is found in high concentrations in large, long living predacious fish.
Research indicates high levels can cause toxicity issues in devloping fry. http://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc...serid=10&md5=5e48218805184d9020a149a52342c434
*those don't delve into the mammalian and general issues w/ pcb's but a search on http://scholar.google.com/ will bring up a lot of research you can cite.
