Do a lot of reading on dwarfpuffers.com, and register on the forum.
Feed them a variety of food. Live snails and live blackworms are great, frozen bloodworms are good too. UGFs blow IMO. I'd send you a power filter if I had any to spare
. If you want more than one puffer, you need a LOT of plants and decor to break up the line of site. They don't have to be live plants or anything, but lots of them. Lots of caves and places to explore as well. DPs are pretty intellegent for fish, and they get bored. 2 is the max for a 5 gallon, but that's still pushing it. Of course, make sure there are no sharp objects in there for them to shred themselves on. You'll need to keep the water temp above 80.
