I am new to this, but to start you should get sand for the bottom and lots of rocks that can provide caves.

I'd rather go with gravel it's easier to maintain. Get a few caves, plants and start off with just a few of them.

good ideas for stock lists on Malawi Mayhem.
You can do some nice things with haps and peacocks in a tank that big, too.

this is my tank 90gal the substrate is made specifically for cichlids and the rocks are supposed to be ideal water conditioners

hey that tank is a good size i would go wit sand expecially if you want to stack your africans, and tons of rock they love the hiding places, and caves for territory

Rocks. Aragonite. Rocks. Rocks. Rocks. Gravel may be easier to clean, but aragonite will provide the buffer you need to maintain the higher pH and will encourage their natural behavior to dig.

Great choice!

Argonite/sand think it might be only live sand that increases ph? Not sure I use argonite myself and like he said Malawi madness gives good ideas for stock me personally I would start 5 or so less than what it says then add if u feel need

get crushed coral for ideal ph and lace rock for caves it works great i have a 100 gal victorian cichlid tank with about 250 pounds of lace rock and they love it they rarely fight good luck.

Dragonite is a good sand
