Try ordering some cheaper things like a few plants or something and gradually get more expensive stuff. If you don't mind paying extra, you can get express shipping rather than priority so your fish will arrive faster. Order from a reputable seller and read their feedback. Some people on aquabid have 1000+ feedback and nearly all of them are positive, so you can bet that you won't have many problems with them.
And not to increase your phobia...but make sure you're home to pick up the package...my sister and I have had 2 things stolen before ._.

If you do a group buy the biggest pain will be planning a set delivery date and pickup time along with receiving payment. Best to do group buys with people and friends you trust not some random stranger offline....
