i first noticed it on one of my motoro pups. its like a loss of color. in the pics it looks like a fungus or growth, but its not raised off the skin at all.

the pups are on the same filter system as my adults, which are showing no signs of this.

now i noticed it on my leos too which are on a seperate filter system.

all the rays are eating and acting normal.

i did an all around water check. amonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 40 ppm chlorine 0 ph 7.0 (normal)

any ideas?

Some salt should take care of it. Some type fungus?

thanks, ive never see it b4 and wonder how it got introduced....

Some sort of fungus or bacteria? Not really sure.. like Mike said, try salt first.

Might be what your feeding it.. a few raykeepers experienced nasty white fungal growth in their filters when feeding too many pelletized foods.. wonder if it can spread to the rays?

do you ever do water changes or do you rely on your drip system? i believe Mike and Miles is right i have had this appearance on some rays runing on a drip system and i do a couple water changes and things have cleared up. good luck.

i had this on a motoro before..... i did a large water change then salted the water and it was gone in 2 days... i wrote it off as a fungus...

thanks guys...

the pups are on a drip but my leos arent. the only food i feed to both tanks is earthworms.

im gonna do water changes and salt tomorrow.

try changing 25% water on alternate days for a week. Should clear up. The main idea is to reduce the nitrates to below 10 ppm.

I have had similar experiences, it doesn't look like fungus cause it doesn't stick out or anything like that. I didn't do a thing and the next thing I knew it was gone.
