I know this may not belong here but just right now my wife told me her cat keeps falling down and can't stand up, she's had this cat since she was 5 years old she grew up and it hurts me to see the cat(meadows) and my wife this way,I've never cremated anything before I live in California how much is it to cremate a cat? We hate to do this but seeing him like this hurts he fought it before he was ok but now I dnt think there's nothing we can do he doesn't eat he went from this chunky happy cat to this skinny sad weak cat you can see it on his face I just dnt Wang him to be in anymore pain :...(..

^ X3...

Not sure how much it costs in the US, but my sister had her cat cremated and it was organized through the Vet... definitely not something you'd want to do on your own...

I'm not positive that he was talking about doing it himself, I think he was more asking the price to get it done.
Even that question can't be answered though. Prices vary SO much depending on country, state, city...even individual vet clinic. I foster for a Border Collie rescue, which meant I needed to find a local vet with good prices, and you'd be surprised how much the prices vary just between individual vets in one area.

OP, call your vet and explain to them what's going on. They may suggest you take the cat in for a wellness exam(which I highly suggest, to see if anything can be done for him), but they can also talk to you about prices for creamtion just over the phone.
Oh, and a piece of advice - if they try to tell you to put him on some special food that they sell, don't do it ;) Vets have NO idea what they're talking about when it comes to nutrition.
Good luck to you, OP, I'm sorry about your cat.

have the cat put to sleep..then bring it home and bury it if you have a little yard.. this way your wife can have a special place to visit and maybe plant a small garden in the cats memory.. call your vet and ask for the amount it costs.. please do the humane thing soon.. no animal should suffer if we can help it.. and i am sure this makes it worse on her to see her cat in this pain... my thoughts are with you.

Thank you to everyone and to make it clear no I wasn't going to meadows(my wife's cat) myself, my wife doesn't know if she wants him cremated or buried she and I think it's better to burry him the to cremate him so he can rest in peace and not in a jar

I chose to have my favorite cats cremated after they were euthanized due to extreme health problems in their old age. I did not choose a urn/container from the service as I had either decorative boxes or personalized painted picture of the cats on their respective containers. This way they will move with me if I ever relocate.

It is really a personal preference, especially if your pet has been a well loved member of your family. It can be a very emotional time and you also may want to bury the cremated pet later if you so decide. Most veterinarians can recommend a facility in your area. Prices will vary on the weight/size of the pet. It was $110 cremation fee for my cat two years ago. Well worth the price to me!

I'm thinking about having him cremated but due to bills the baby it's a litlle tight I can pay for the cremation next week I just don't want him to keep suffering that long... Thanks Kevin he is a great cat
