Just picked up an all glass 75 gallon, stole it, actually. But my problem is this..... It came with a Rena XP3 canister filter, and I am not sure how to prime it. Can someone please help?? I have it all connected, but having only used Fluval before, I don't know how this one gets started.

Thanks in advance!

open the quick release like you're removing the canister from the plumbing, fill the intake tube with water up to the same level as the tank, close the quick release and watch it fill. :D

When you say stole it you mean got a good deal right ?

If what Austin says does not work for whatever reason open up the lines and suck on the filter exhaust tube eventually the canister will siphon itself full of water.

Do you have the intake stuff that came with the filter? If so look near the edge of the tank (top) on one of the plastic peices that the tubes connect to. There is a small hole where you can fill water into the tube while its connected, etc.

What Austin said did work. However, now, every few minutes it kinda burps, gurgles and spits out a lot of air bubbles. Is this normal for a Rena. My fluvals never have done that, and they are sooooo quiet. This one has a kind of high pitched whine. Not bad, but noticeable.

Mine don't whine at all but if the sponges were dry it will spit air for a bit until the sponges get saturated all the air bubbles come out. Even then it will spit air sometimes (I have a lot of bubbles in the tank, so it sucks them up), especially if you don't have the cap on the inlet tube tight. (The cap where you fill to prime it)

I don't even do that though, I just fill it up to the top before putting the top on the canister. It spills out some so do it in the sink or tub but this way it automatically starts, even when the canister is not being gravity fed.
