1)female, 2)female, 3)female, 4&5,7)not too sure because i can't see their vent, 6)female

Thank you so much reddevilflowerhorn, I'll try to get better pics, darn it, I thought for sure the second set of pics with 7 were clear enough. Although I'm starting to see a pattern already. I've a feeling the orginal breeder kept most (if not all) of the male stock back for breeding.

i saw those listed on AB

All but four of them, those I intend to keep, but yes the rest are for sale.

the males are not fertile, you have to line breed your batch to get the fertile genes, for example take f0 (the father a tex., and mother a fader to make f1), then cross the father with (f1 fader daughter to make f2), then cross father with (f2 fader daughter to make f3), then you should have fertile f4 red sb tex males.

p.s. (f3 are 7/8 tex genes with the fader genes)
the whole batch will fade when crossed with f4 fader males to f1 fader females

oh yeah there is one thing i forgot to tell you, (when looking at vent sexing) the males vent always are thin and leans straight back towards the anal fin, and
the female seems thicker and curve towards the front like a gun's trigger

The pics I found on the web are mislabeled then, no wonder I'm havin so much trouble.

I really need to get this venting thing down! I have 2 flowerhorns that I need to get a 100% sure venting on. Think they are females but both have never layed eggs and 1 paired up it seems with another female???

yeah females seems to pair up by mistake all the time, the best ting is to divide them, and reintroduce a male the same size or a little bit bigger to submit her into breeding,

p.s. females are very very picky when it comes to laying eggs.
depending on temp, males,and aggression

Is it normal for a female try to court another female, spawn with the female, and then get separated for a few weeks and do the same thing again with the same female?

yes, because they seem to think the other female(the more aggressive one is a male) i had one that spawned 4 to 5 time together in till i notice when i put in a more aggressive male in the tank the submissive female would leave the aggressive female and breed with the male

i read somewhere on the web male would spawn with more than one female in the tank if there is only one male and the rest are all females

Well I put my bonsai flowerhorn in with my female and he would always be trying to court her. Well he was smaller and than her and too young to breed so she would chase him away. In late November they finally spawned, the first half he ate the eggs and the second half finally looked like he was fertilizing the eggs. The eggs went bad after a few days.

3 weeks later they spawned again no egg eating but the eggs went bad again. Now I am not sure if its because he is infertile, inexperienced, or a female.
